We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer. (Kevin McDorman, VP, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations)

The full coverage of these developments, which was recently released on their website, goes as follows:

AT&T will now accept online bill payments through BitPay, a respected cryptocurrency payment processor. AT&T becomes the first major U.S. mobile carrier to provide a cryptocurrency payment option to customers.

"We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services," said Kevin McDorman, vice president, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations. "We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer."

Customers will be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they log on to their accounts online or with the myAT&T app.

In addition to their new acceptance of crypto payments, there has also been news that AT&T is one of the major U.S. companies to receive a blockchain-based patent, which they intend to use to map social media interactions and to create a ledger of social media activity that can be used for advertising purposes.

With major companies like AT&T integrating cryptocurrencies into their business operations and other similar entities following suit, we can expect to see increased adoption and improvement within the crypto space as time goes on.
